It was wonderful, thanks for asking. I spent most of it with this fella. We hiked St. Mary's, went kite flying, visited Garden of the Gods, and had a picnic. Oh, and did I mention that he's my boyfriend? Yeah, he is kind of amazing. ;)
Lately, I cannot stop listening to Sara Barielles' new EP Once Upon Anither Time. Her voice is simply incredible. When I first listened to this CD, I melted- Her voice is so pure and there is so much emotion behind each song. There is a song on the EP that has very colorful language, and I don't condon using that language, but she can honestly make it sound so pretty as if she were singing Shakespeare sonnet. These two songs are my favorites; the first sounds like a lullaby and I find myself hummimg it all the time. The second, well..shhh just listen.
I absolutely adore unique voices and Brandi Carlile is one of those voices that you just don't find everywhere. She can make a love song sound angry- I didn't even know that was possible. It was so difficult for me to just pick out two songs for todays Music Mondays, but I decided two of my favorites. They are sort of sad tunes, but I really liked Again Today and started listening to it not-stop when I moved to Colorado. Not sure why, I just really liked the line "who's gonna break my fall when the spinning stops." Hope you enjoy!
I also came a fantastic version of across her singing Folsom Prision Blues HERE.
