So if you haven't heard the news of the Colorado wildfires then you must be in another planet. Colorado is now my home and I hate to see it be destroyed so easily. It breaks my heart to see such a beautiful state to be so helpless. There are tons of families who are evacuating beause of the smoke and so many homes destroyed by te fire. If you would like to help visit Wild Fire Tees.com where you can buy a t-shirt and all of the proceeds help te victims from the wildfires. Also, you can donate money HERE. Anything helps!
Covers are done all the time, and when they are done right they are absolutely incredible. I love to listen to Boyce Avenue; it makes me want to sing to everything. I think thy have their own music, but their popularity really grew from the covers they do. The majority of them are acoustic and tastefully done; and they cover pretty much everything. Here are a few of my favorites and this was hard to pick because there are so many!
Can I just say that I live in the most beautiful state ever? And I am a die-hard Texan girl at heart. I hiked Devil's Head the other day with my fella and the hike was absolutely amazing. Just take a look.
And yes, we even saw a Dolorean.
For this weeks "Music Monday" I was honestly running blanks on what to show you. But then I remebered Josh Garrels. I really don't know why it has taken me this long to introduced him. If you like unique voices and melodic surprises then I have no doubt that you will enjoy this! Have a happy Monday!
This was my first Father's Day not being in Texas. There were times when my dad would make a trip up to see his dad, so my sister and I wouldn't spend it with him. But this time I didn't have any of my family around. It made me terribly sad and I didn't like it. My Dad is an amazing man and has always given me wisdom and encouragement when I needed it. He is a hardworker and pushes for me to be the same. My Dad is incredibly smart and he can also be silly. I am so proud to call him my father.
Lately it seems as if things are getting busier and busier. Not that I'm too upset; generally, I like busy, but that also means my blog might be getting neglected. So let me catch chu up on me.
Thinking About:
School has really been on my mind. I started class (yes, just one) to try to make up from all the time that I wasted when moving up. Not that I am complaining, it is just the way things turned out. At times it can get stressful, mainly because of the "non-resident" issue that I dealing with in Colorado, but I have to always remind myself that "I will not be overwhelmed". I learned in the past that worry causes nothing but trouble and stress is unneeded. My problems are so trivial in comparison to what really matters. Anyway, all that to say, that my few seconds of worry were unneeded. My class is amazing! I am enjoying every minute of it.
Looking Forward To:
This summer. This is the first summer that I am completely away from home. There are so many "firsts" here in Colorado and its just all so exciting. I miss my family and friends like crazy, but I know that they love me and are proud. Their support means so much. For them to allow me to leave and grow during this season of my life means they believe in me. My support system back home have always poured into my life. Their wisdom and and direction have shaped so many aspects of my life.
Craving:
Raisning Cane's. There is seriously nothing better than good ol' fashion fried chicken and southern sweet tea. I should just get it pumped into my blood. That, or Pluckers. Yumm...yeah, I'm a Texas girl.
Watching:
Best Friends Forever. So hilarious and that's all that needs to be said.
Reading:
'Delirious: My Journey with the Band, a Growing Family, and an Army of History Makers' by Martin Smith and Craig Borlase. This book is incredible. Every chapter I can feel the well of emotion coming from me because of God's power through music. I highly recomend this book if you are a worship leader or just like to read at all!
