LUNA'S LOVES

It's been a while since I've updated on what I'm loving as far as beauty essentials. I believe that what we put in our bodies and on our skin matters, so here is just a small list of some products that I'm crazy about currently:
  • Milk Makeup Cheek + Lip Stick - The concept behind this brand was to help make makeup easy for the "on the go" women, which I fall into that category now that I am a mom. I prefer creamy blushes to powder and love how this glides on my skin. I bought coral which works great with my skin tone!
  • Glossier Skin Tint- glossier and I think alike: skin first, makeup second. Their skin tint is light and doesn't weigh down on your skin. Click HERE and get 20% off your order!
  • Glossier Highlighter- I received this as a gift and was immediately hooked. I don't always wear makeup but if I do, at least I can make my skin look dewy. Click HERE and get 20% off your order!
  • Fig and Yarrow Facial Serum-Fig &Yarrow is a Colorado company that is slowly growing big because of its transparency and excellent in their products. I use this serum before I go to bed to hydrate my skin. I love it!
  • Love and Salt - I stay a little in my hair to add texture and then thats it!

Nowadays, I'm all about comfortable style. On a normal week, you can find me chasing around a toddler so when I go shopping, I like to keep a few things in mind A) Can I move around in this? B) Do I love it? C) Can I get multiple uses out of it? When I looked around StyleWe to see if they'd have anything I'd like, I was drawn to this denim dress. Denim is a great staple for me, and the best part about this look is that it is so flipping comfortable. I can wear it with sandals, white tennis shoes, or espadrilles.
StyleWe offers a variety of different items that can fit any budget. From a high fashion dress that would help you stand out for special occasions, or something casual that translates in your day-to-day life. There is a wide spectrum and plenty to choose from. Check it out!

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Anytime I post about acai bowls that I make at home, I get tons of questions. Strangely enough its easier to make than you think, given its name is so pretentious that I feel like rolling my eyes overtime I say it  because I'm becoming one of "those people." These bowls are completely customizable and can be made to your liking. I am convinced that here is no wrong way!
Lately, I have been adding Collagen Beauty Greens complimentary of Vital Protein to my smoothies and acai bowls. The Collagen Beauty Greens is a mix that contains marine collagen, raw greens, hyaluronic acid, and probiotic dietary supplement. It also is flavored unlike the Collagen Peptides I used in my previous recipe. It’s natural coconut vanilla flavor that is made from coconut water and Madagascar vanilla beans. It is also gluten free, made without artificial sweeteners, and is excellent source of vitamin A.
Prep Time: 10 min.
Serves: 1-2 people, there are times where I've eaten this whole portion but I would recommend sharing .

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 Packet of Sambazon Acai Packet (I found mine at Sprouts!)
  • 1/2 Cup non-dairy milk (I use almond milk or sometimes coconut milk)
  • 1/2 Frozen banana
  • 1/4 Cup Strawberries
  • 1/4 Mixed Berries
Possible Garnish:
  • Berries
  • Cocoa Nibs
  • Goji Berries
  • Bee Pollen
  • Bananas
  • Coconut Shavings
  • Chai Seeds
  • Granola
  • Honey

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a blender. The desired consistency is suppose to be thick and creamy, not watery like a smoothie.
  2. Add any desired garnish. Here's where you can get creative- there really is no wrong way!
  3. Enjoy!

I'd basically do anything in the name of good skin, hair and nails. So I was excited to receive Collagen Peptides, Marine Collagen, and Collagen Beauty Greens complimentary of Vital Proteins. As it turns out there are so many more benefits to Vital Proteins products than just luscious hair and skin. There are many beauty benefits that help contribute to your overall health. I'm sure you have tons of questions like why collagen or what does it do or even how to incorporate it to your everyday life, and I hope to answer those questions through this post and a few more posts to come!
First things first:

Why Collagen?
"It’s not hard to understand the many benefits of collagen. This type of protein provides the building blocks for your hair, skin, and nails and is therefore a vital part of anyone’s diet. Collagen helps protect your body from harsh temperatures, and other elements like wind or sun that can dry out your skin, leaving it dehydrated and flaky. We all know that no amount of makeup can hide dry skin, which is why it’s important to hydrate with drinkable collagen."

Beauty Benefits
  1. Prevents the signs of aging in the skin – hydrating the skin and increasing moisture levels helps slow the onset of fine lines and wrinkles while keeping your skin "glowy" year-round.
  2. Reverse the signs of aging – beyond just preventing the signs of aging, collagen can actually make the skin appear younger by diminishing the appearance of fine lines, deep wrinkles, and improving firmness and elasticity.
  3. Healthier digestion– Collagen helps to repair the sensitive lining of our stomach, small/large intestines that is caused by spicy or acidic foods.
  4. Strengthens hair and nails – Collagen protein is the foundation of your hair and nails. Often, this is the first and most noticeable benefit of intaking collagen on a daily basis.

The product I featured in this post is Vital Protein's Collagen Peptides. Collagen Peptides are natural, flavorless and are comprised grass-fed, mature raised bovine collagen peptides.
But what does it do?  This natural anti-aging protein supports youthful skin, strong bones, reduces joint pain, and provides deeper, more restorative sleep. Unlike gelatin, these peptides are soluble in cold liquids as well as hot. So you can put it in your coffee, tea, smoothies, or even sauces or soups!
Below I have the recipe for a an Icy Almond Shot that I made three times yesterday because it was so yummy! It makes a nice snack or a refreshing dessert. It simple, easy, and fast to make too, which these days, finding the time to cook is basically non-existent.

Prep: 5 Min
Makes: 4 (2-ounce) servings, or you could devour the whole thing like me

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup almond milk
  • 1 Tbs almond butter
  • 1 Tbs almond butter (I used Justin's Maple Almond Butter)
  • 1 Tbs cocao powder
  • 1-2 Scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
  • 2 Ice cubes
  • (Optional) 1 Tsp Flaxseed
  • If you want a creamy fruity flavor try adding 1/2 a frozen banana instead of ice
  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until the ice is all blended
  2. Pour into cup, and enjoy! Seriously it's that simple.

*I received Vital Proteins complimentary. My opinions are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.

There is something beautiful that happened when I became a mother. It was a role that felt so ordained and holy and scary, but I soon began to figure out that there was so much more to being a mom than I realized. There are equally as many horrible moments as there are beautiful ones, and you guys, you are not alone.
So, I wrote some pointers on how to keep your sanity:
  1. Have fun- life throws some unexpected curveballs, so roll with it!
  2. Frequently turn on music and throw a dance party in your living room- even if it is just you and your husband. Our current favorite Spotify playlists: Left Of Center and  Songs To Sing In The Shower.
  3. If you ask your daughter a question and she says, "What," say it louder. I SAID DID YOU WANT A BANANA?!
  4. Get out of the house- take a walk around the mall, go to the library, refrain from buying everything at Target, or get free samples at at SAM's. It doesn't matter! Just don't stay cooped up in the house.
  5. Have an activity just for your self. I go to the gym, and I love it. I Don't have to be "mom." I can just work out and not worry about anything for about an hour, and its just for me.
  6. Make family traditions- even if it's small. Every Friday morning in the Nemeth house is Pancake Day. It started when I was pregnant. We wanted to start something that RK would have to look forward to when she's older.
  7. If she is throwing a fit, try asking what's wrong with an accent. It doesn't help, but at least it lightens your mood.
  8. Ask for help- It's the bravest thing you can do besides stand-up comedy.
