Sorry I have been MIA lately. I am entering another busy season of my life. Not that I am complaining, it is just going to have to require more growing, stretching, and patience. The other day I was noticing the kids and how curious-little-things they are. No one has to tell them to be that way- they just are. As adults, we get discouraged from this. We create excuses, become more rational, and dismiss the creative imagination that we once had as a child. Yes of course we don't just give it all away. There is still some of that child that is still in us, but now he/she has been stomped down a bit. We need to be people who stir up our curiosity; people who never want to quit learning or growing. If we do not have the character to keep learning, we will limit our capacity to keep advancing. If we can find one thing that we are stubbornly, passionate about about and always stay intensely curious about it, ten maybe we can eventually master it. I don't ever want to reach a time of my life where I stop learning. How sad would that be? I would never grow, become better, or have dreams. Maybe that is why Jesus tells us to come to Him as little children. They have the best imaginations.

I am nearing my 6 months here in Colorado and my how time flies! Summer has been beautiful here in Colorado, but Fall is my favorite season. I am now getting anxious for the weather change in my new home state: beautiful fall leaves, warm sun, cold wind, scarves, and of course, boots!

I have listened to Relient K since their first CD came out and then I was hooked. At the time, they were a lot more "punk-y" but they had catchy fun lyrics, and in the end, it was okay because I was a middle school girl who didnt know much about music anyway. However, it seemed as we both grew up and transitioned- them in style, lyrics, and musical arrangements, me in maturity and finding out who I was- we both found our way through their music. If I could make a soundtrack to my life, I'm sure the majority of it would be Relient K. When they put out a CD, it fit perfectly to where I was at musicaly. Their albums are full of memories for me and when I play them after a long time it is like visiting an old friend. They are coming out with a CD soon and I am just overjoyed to see what they will come up with!

I once heard the most beautiful prayer from a humble musician- "Talent is God's gift to us, skill is our gift back to Him." When I heard it, I never forgot it. The most impressive thing, in my opinion, is when talent can be diligently mastered to create something great. I am conviced that one of the most disappointing things we can do as artists is to let our gifts go to waste. We need to nurture our dreams and talents. We cannot always wait for things o happen, we must also work hard and be a good steward of what God has given us. Lately I have been really challenged with dreams and goals. Each and everyone of us have dreams, passions, and goals that are unique to us, but sometimes they never leave our imaginations. There are too many amazing peope with unfilled lives and unfulfilled dreams. Then there are still other people who put limitations on dreams. Sometimes the limitations you accept- whether it be rejections, hurt, failure, or lies that were told to you- establish the boundaries of your existence. I don't know about you, but I don't want to die with greatness locked up inside of me. This planet is made better, or worse by the people we choose to become, and though you may not recognize it, there is greatness within you. God has placed specific dreams, talent, and passions within us, and when we are so consumed with His heart and kingdom we can trust our passions. You were created to have dreams bigger and bolder than you are. If your dreams can be accomplished by yourself then those are just goals that rarely require God. And while all our dreams are different and unique to us, if you let Jesus guide your life, then your life cannot simply be about you. It cannot just be about your life, your ambitions, your dreams, or your goals. As you pursue those things in your heart, always point to God so that He always gets the glory. And you should never be afraid to pursue those dreams that are birthed out of a burden. Honestly, those are the most unselfish, beautiful ones. Great dreams begin as we expand our concern and deepen our burden and compassion for others. What are your dreams? What has God placed inside of you? What are your passions and burdens? And what are you doing about them?
